Dancing Leaves: 2003

Dancing Leaves

The Meaning

This painting, titled “Dancing Leaves” was done in the first year when I began painting on canvas with acrylic paint. The same year, I did “Shelter in the Life” which has the same theme of sacrificial blood.

Intertwined

The three trees represent The Trinity of God, with a symbol on the bottom trunk of three circles together with the blood of the Son’s sacrifice dripping down from them.

Dancing

The leaves represent the joy of receiving His sacrifice as they dance underneath the light of the Son.

The Washing

The blue background intends to express baptism by the washing of His Spirit.

The Process

I first drew out the outline of the sun and the three trees and painted them using acrylic paint. Using my freestyle method, I added the leaves by randomly creating different dancing poses for each leaf on the tree as I was moved to do so. Then the blue background was blended around the tree and the sun and I blended the black paint in with the blue. Lastly, you can see the blue streaks over the black paint, to complete the piece.
