The Meaning

For “My lamp dipped in Oil”, there was no intended meaning to illustrate with the oil medium on the inside of the lamp, but the color schemes I use on each piece really show.

Whenever I see the non-definitive colors mixed together, I think of the brilliant color schemes of Jackson Pollock and how they have influenced me to try new ones.

The Process

My lamp accidentally fell onto my painting palette one day, so I just kept on dipping and spreading it on the inside and I began to like it. This reminds me of the “Window of Colors” piece on vinyl that was created by accident.

I also use my palette knife to smear dried out paint onto the lamp to show the different color schemes I use on my canvases.
