Window Of Colors: 2006-2009

Window Of Colors

The Process

To be honest, “Window of Colors” happened by accident. It started as a vinyl cloth I draped over a table in my art studio meant to protect it. I would use it to clean my brushes and palette knife by dragging them across the vinyl.

Dripping Down

Some of the paint would also drip down over the edges and onto the floor, producing the lines shown on the sides.

Patterns

Over time, I started noticing patterns of color developing on the fabric and when I took it off the table, I realized I had created another piece of art that I now call “Window of Colors.”

The Meaning

This piece was significant to me because it showed the process of my color development in the earlier years of painting (while moving from acrylic to oil). It also became important as I realized its significance in the development of my book and became the iconic symbol for the preface page in “The Secret That Kills/Spirit that Saves.”
